Japan falls further behind on the ES Cell research that was first started and discovered here. I saw a program on the TV the other day about the difference in the quality and level of the research facilities in the states vs. Japan. They said that researching the US was fun, and researching in Japan was depressing and accordingly the US will get the best research teams and the best funding. I thought it a metaphor for Japanese companies too; the work environment here is just not good.
